Valient Herbert (Bud) Young was born on August 19, 1933 in Aurora, IL to Herbert and Elsie (Rickert) Young and passed from this life on October 22, 2022 in Goodlettsville, TN at the age of 89. Bud graduated from Aurora High School before joining the US Air Force, in which he proudly served during the Korean War. After completing a bachelor's degree in Business from Southern Illinois University he embarked on a career in personnel management in Belvidere, IL and, later, Holland, MI, after which he became a real estate agent.

Bud's 43-year marriage to Mary Elizabeth (Liz) Goodman began on May 17, 1958 and they were proud parents to three sons, Alan, Dale, and Dan, but they really doted on their grandchildren. After Liz's death in 2001, Bud found love again with Clare Gibbons, and they were married on September 11, 2005.

Never to sit still, Bud enjoyed taming wild animals, fishing, woodworking, playing cards, and making wine with his friends.

Bud is predeceased by his parents, Herbert and Elsie Young, two wives: Liz Young and Clare Young. He is survived by his children: Alan and wife, Donna, of Wilson, OK; Dale and wife, Lila (Myki) of Hamilton, MI; Dan and wife, Lynn, of Goodlettsville, TN; ten grandchildren: Lindsey, Samantha, Keith, Mark, Brandi, Corey, Trevor, Rachel, Kyle & Alex; and 19 great grandchildren.

A celebration of Bud's life will be held at Hood Funeral Home in Crossville, TN at 4:00 pm on Sunday, October 30, and interment will be held at 1:00 pm on October 31 at Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Knoxville, TN.
