SAMUEL MOSES BRISTOW, a resident of the Grassy Cove community, passed away on April 7, 2023 at the age of 88. He was born on May 27, 1934 in Grassy Cove, TN, the son of Austin and Vada Knox Bristow. He built a career as a foreman with Speno Railroad, while also working as a lifelong farmer in both Grassy Cove and Crab Orchard, along with the rest of his family. A decorated veteran, he proudly served our country in the United States Navy.

His friends and family knew him as Mose, and will remember him as a loving uncle, loyal friend, hardworking fellow, and a singular character full of wit and wisdom. A true Southern gentleman, he will be deeply missed by his community and his family.

He is survived by many nephews and nieces of several generations and special friend Mary Spencer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother John Bristow, and sisters Helen Nemeth, Gladys Hedgecoth, Evelyn Cummings, Wilma (Bill) Watkins, Ruby Clark and Roberta (Polly) Buck, as well as several nephews and nieces.

A graveside committal service will be held Saturday April 22, 2023, at 11am at Grassy Cove Baptist Cemetery.
