Rodney Eugene
Dixon
d. May 8, 2020
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rodney (Rod) Eugene Dixon on May 8, 2020. 'Teddy Bear', as he was known by many, was born on June 22, 1957 in Crossville, Tennessee.
He is survived by his wife Jan Dixon, his daughter Amber Dixon and partner Tasha Nelson; his mother, Loraine and stepfather, JC Carson; his sister, Melissa Roberts Hinch and husband, Todd; his mother-in-law, Pat Dalton, brothers-in-law Mike Dalton and partner, Kathy Dillon, Steve Dalton and wife, Lori; nieces and nephews Elisha Dixon and husband Travis Kee, Allison Dixon, Justin Brown and wife, Misty, Austin Brown, Chase Dalton and wife, Taylor, Logan Dalton, and numerous cousins from the Hennessee family tree both in Tennessee and Florida.
He is preceded in death by his father Roy E. Dixon and stepmother, Frances; brother, Bobby E. Dixon and father-in-law, Richard (Dick) Dalton.
Rod was employed by Avery Dennison for twenty four years before finishing his career as Corporal at the Bledsoe County Correctional Complex. It was here he developed a lasting bond with his fellow brothers and sisters in service. His daily prayers often included "Thanks for having my six…"
An accomplished bowler from an early age, Rod was a cornerstone for his Friday night leagues for many years. He was an avid gun enthusiast who enjoyed the occasional turkey shoots. Rarely did he decline an invitation to rack the table for a friendly game of 8-Ball. He had an obsession with classic cars and trucks, and was often found pampering his pride and joy, a 1997 Chevy Silverado he affectionately referred to as 'Black Beauty'. On Saturdays, he anxiously awaited the proclamation, "Its football time in Tennessee," and on Sundays, "Gentleman, start your engines." Perhaps his greatest joy came from time spent at his favorite spot at the lake, with those he cherished most. Rod's passion for the simple pleasures of life was only surpassed by his great love of family and friends.
He will be greatly missed.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday May 12, 2020 at 1pm at Big Lick Cemetery.
