Robert (Bob) Allen Hunt, 76, of Fairfield Glade, Tennessee, passed away at home on June 17, 2020 after a long illness. He was born in Oak Park, Illinois on May 12, 1944. Bob is survived by his spouse of 49 years Carol Ann (Chada) Hunt, daughters Cammy Marie (Hunt) Gertz, Liza Carol (Hunt) Bobel. son Gregory Edward Fundahn., grandchildren Matthew Gertz, Jocelyn Gertz, Noah Gertz, Hunter Gertz, Brody Bobel, Kirsten (Para) Hundley, Christopher Para, Tomi Fundahn, and brother Terry Hunt. Bob is preceded in death by his mother Evelyn (Schultz) Hunt, father Chreswell Hunt, siblings Jerry Hunt, Nancy (Hunt) Kozak, and Susie (Hunt) Felice, daughter Christine (Hunt) Para and grandson Anthony Para. Bob graduated from Main Township West High School in Des Plaines, Illinois. He worked as a Union carpenter until 1976 when he started his own company Bob Hunt & Associates. He built custom homes throughout McHenry County Illinois. When the construction business collapsed in the 1980's he went back to school and received his bachelor's degree from National College of Education in Evanston, Illinois. He worked at McHenry County College until building picked up again. He then went back to building homes, consulting with people building their own homes, and doing project management. He and Carol retired to Tennessee in 2005. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He always had a smile on his face and a silly story to relate. People liked him because he was interested in what they had to say and he always remembered the face but the name not so much. He loved to golf and then have a drink (or 2) with the guys afterwards. He also loved to travel. His bucket list was to golf in every state. He made it to all but Alaska. Bob was also a volunteer fireman for 13 years at the Fairfield Glade Fire Department. He had never worked as a fireman before so he often took classes and did training to better himself. He fought some pretty big fires while on the force and remained active until he could no longer do the job. He enjoyed the work and especially the camaraderie of his fellow firemen. A celebration of life will be held 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at Hood Funeral Home, 2371 Hwy 127 South, Crossville. The family will receive friends at their home after the service.
