Obituary

RALPH A. BLACKWOOD age 84 of Crossville, TN passed away February 26, 2020. He was born July 3, 1935 in Dyer, TN the son of Harold R. and Frances Draper Blackwood. He was a native and long time Memphian, where he worked as a supervisor in the trucking industry for TIME DC and Yellow freight for 47 years before retiring to Crossville. After "retiring," he began working for his Lord as a servant of Gideons International and Central Baptist Church, where he was a long serving Deacon; and he was bestowed the honor of Deacon Emeritus. Ralph loved fishing and coconut cake and a good joke. But more than anything he loved his family, especially his "Lener," whom he cherished for 65 years of marriage.

He is survived by his wife Helen Blackwood of Crossville, TN. He is also survived by his son, R.Allen Blackwood Jr., M.D. and his wife, Jennifer of Roanoke, VA, and grandchildren Mary Martha and Hall Adams. He is also survived by his daughter Teresa B. Rogers and her husband, Bill of Monterey, TN, and step grandchildren Scott Rogers(Sherry) and Karen Greer. He is also survived by his twin sister Rosemary Bell of Memphis, TN, He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held Sunday March 1, 2020 at 2:00pm at Central Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00pm-2:00pm prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Green Acres Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family has respectfully asked that donations be made to The Gideons International, PO Box 97251, Washington DC, 20090-7251 or Central Baptist Church Missionary Fund.
