ODEAN RACHAEL PROFFITT age 93 of Crossville, TN passed away August 15, 2026. She was born April 14, 1933 in Crossville, TN the daughter of Porter and Ova Brown Howard. She was a loving mother and wife who held a tremendous love for her family. She was an avid gardener and loved her farm animals especially her chickens. She was an outdoors lady who enjoying hunting with her family. Muddy Pond was a place that was dear to her heart and enjoyed the time she spent there. She lived a simple life, who passed down all her life her skills to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her,

She is survived by her children-Frances Dykes, Steve Proffitt, David Proffitt, Orlen Proffitt and his wife Krystal, Jeff Proffitt and his wife Cindy and also Chase Proffitt all of Crossville, TN grandchildren- Valerie Beard and her husband David, Carmella Dykes, Heather Stout, Trent Dykes and his wife Lindsey, Travis Proffitt, Luke Proffitt David Proffitt, Kevin Proffitt, Scott Proffitt and his wife Shannon, Josh Proffitt and his wife Tad and Kylee Howard and a host of special great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and special family friend Gabe Cook.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles J.V. Proffitt, grandchildren- Heath Dykes and Wayne Proffitt, siblings- Erma Padgett, Mary Baldwin, Myrtle Baldwin, Thelma Walker, Evelyn Mackarole, Rosie Madewell, Beuna Norris, Vavid Miller and her twin infant brother- David Howard, Arthur Howard, Earlene Gresham and Billy Howard.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday August 19, 2026 at 11am at Oak Hill Cemetery.
