Nancy H. Garrett age 86 of Crossville, TN passed away peacefully at Cumberland House on Feb. 9, 2023. She was born Nov. 9, 1936 in Shelby County, AL the daughter of Max C. and Mildred (Faulkner) Houston. She graduated from Goodwater, Alabama  High School in 1955 and Howard College (now Samford University) in 1960. She loved her years as a first grade teacher in Alabama, Kentucky, Ohio and especially her 11 years as a special education aide in Morton, Illinois from which she retired in 2005.

Moving to Fairfield Glade in 2005 with her husband, Richard, Nancy served on the advisory committee of the Imagination Library and sang in the Cumberland County Community Chorus.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Betty Broome. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Richard, her daughters, Rachel Howell (Matt) and Laura Garrett (Doug Gates), four grandchildren, Eamon Howell, Rhys Howell, Cecily Gates and Theo Gates and two sisters, Jane Banister and Gail Cassell (Ralph).

Memorial services will be held Saturday March 25, 2023 at 1:00pm at Fairfield Glade Community Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimers Tennessee or Hospice of Cumberland County.
