MICHAEL KEITH SORRELS died May 10, 2024, following a brief illness. Mike was a graduate of CCHS, Class of 77. Following high school, he attended Tennessee Tech, where he graduated with a business degree. After working for a year, Mike returned to TN Tech, earning a Bachelor of Nursing degree. Mike worked in various hospitals in and around Knoxville, TN as an ICU nurse, CCU nurse, Medsurg nurse, ER nurse, manager of pain management clinic and as a compliance officer. He retired from nursing in 2022, after working as a nurse for almost 40 years. Mike loved dogs and was a dog parent to many rescued dogs. He also loved to travel, especially to Latin American countries. Following his retirement, he settled in Chelem, Yucatan, Mexico, where he enjoyed walking on the beach, making new friends and taking in all the beautiful scenery. Mike was loved by all who knew him.

He is survived by his father- Norris Sorrels, sister- Kim Becker and her husband Todd, niece- Judith Strzelec and nephew- Joseph Becker.

He was preceded in death by his mother- Ree Sorrels.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday May 18, 2024 at 11am at Hood Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10am-11am prior to the service at the funeral home.
