Judith A. Murphy passed away peacefully on Nov. 2, 2017, with family at her side. She was born on September 30, 1939 in Macomb, IL. She was married to Ronald Murphy for 57 years.
Judy is survived by her husband; daughters, Kathy (John) Bertelsen of Mooresville, NC, Gretchen (Douglas) Bowman of Colorado Springs, CO, and Rebecca (Shane) Lambert of Vandalia, IL; son, Erich (Beth) Murphy of Chenoa, IL; sister, Martha King of Chapin, SC; 10 grandchildren, three who are currently serving in the military; and 13 great-grandchildren.
After teaching first grade in Monmouth, IL, she and her husband retired to Fairfield Glade and joined Fairfield Glade Community Church. She sang in the choir, played bells and led the prayer shawl ministry. She also sang with the Cumberland County Community Chorus. One of her greatest joys was volunteering at the Cumberland County Playhouse where she performed in many plays.
A service celebrating her life will be held on Nov. 25, 2017, at 3 p.m. at Fairfield Glade Community Church. Memorials can be made to the Cumberland County Playhouse or Fairfield Glade Community Church.
