JUDGE WILLIAM PAYNE age 99 of Crossville, TN passed away December 21, 2021. He was born March 28, 1922 in Ozark, AL the son of Abbey and Esther Jackson Payne. He was a civil engineer having worked for TVA and was also a United States Army veteran serving in WWII working as a combat engineer and was a part of Operation Overlord also known as D-Day. He was a member of Homestead Baptist Church since 1987.

He is survived by his wife- Mildred Payne of Crossville, TN, daughter- Sandra Thompson and her husband Thomas of Atlanta, GA and sister- Melba Oakley of Sevierville, TN.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife- Eva Payne, brothers- Jesse Payne and Roy Payne and sister- Ruth Griffith.

Funeral services were held Wednesday December 29, 2021 at 11:00am at Homestead Baptist Church. Burial was in McMinn Memory Gardens in Athens, TN.
