Obituary

Joyce A. (Johnson) Siebert, age 91, died peacefully on Sunday,
July 2, 2023 at the Cumberland Hospice in Crossville TN.
She was born March 12, 1932 in Chicago IL. Her parents were
Ella (Stein) Johnson and Elmer Johnson. She was married June
15, 1954 to Warner ("Zeb") Siebert, of Cape Girardeau MO.
Joyce completed a BA in Early Childhood Education from
Elmhurst College, 1954, where she met Warner. Upon graduation,
they married and spent their honeymoon in Daytona Beach FL
where Warner was playing baseball. This was the beginning of a
life-long love for Florida, baseball, and Key West sunsets.
Joyce and Warner lived where Warner served UCC congregations
in St. Paul in Deerfield IL; St. John in Beecher IL, St. Mark in
Chicago Heights, IL; St. Paul in Chelsea MI; Zion in North Canton

OH; Trinity in Tiffin OH; and First Congregational in Owosso MI.
After Warner retired in 1994, they moved to Uplands Village in
Pleasant Hill TN and Lakeland FL. After Warner's death in 2012
Joyce moved to Crossville TN.
Joyce was a lifelong traveler and adventurer. Along with her
family and Smoky the dog, she traveled throughout the United
States in tents, campers and motor homes. One of her mottos
was "Getting There is Half the Fun." Joyce was first and foremost
a mother. At various times she worked part time in administrative
support for Mercywood Hospital, Ann Arbor MI, St. Francis
Nursing Home, Tiffin OH, and the church. She also enjoyed
reading, music, nature, and taking care of her backyard birds.
Another of Joyce's mottos was, "Life Goes On." Joyce's legacies
include her son Stephen Siebert (Beth Zebron), Hunt Valley MD;
Pamela Dyer (Rick), St. Joseph MI; Leslie Siebert, Honey Brook
PA; and Susan Engle (Matt), Pickerington OH. Her seven
grandchildren include: Warner Siebert (Katie) and Stephanie
Salomon (David); Andrew Dyer (Robert) and Timothy Dyer
(Larisa); Turner Engle (Summer), Carson Engle (Emily 1) and
Riley Engle (Emily 2). She had seven great grandchildren:

Annabelle, Beau and Harrison Siebert; Jack and James Salomon,
Henrik Dyer and Vivien Engle. She is also survived by a sister,
Phyllis Rickman, Crete IL, and brother Elmer Johnson (Barbara),
Ventura CA.
At her request, services will be private.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Cumberland
County, 30 East Adams St., Crossville TN 38555 or The Warner
H. Siebert, Sr. Scholarship at Eden Theological Seminary, 475
East Lockwood Ave., St. Louis MO 63119-3192. They established
this scholarship in Warner's father's memory.
