Joyce Ann Nelson, born April 22, 1942, passed away on October 30, 2026.
She found happiness in fishing, in knitting and crocheting, in reading, and in cooking for those she loved.
Joyce will be remembered as a loving and caring woman whose life was rooted in the simple, lasting joys that bring people together. She found happiness in fishing, in knitting and crocheting, in reading, and in cooking for those she loved. Among the many comforts she gave her family, she was especially known for her meatloaf, a familiar and cherished part of home and togetherness. Her greatest pride was her family: her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, whose lives formed the heart of her own.
She leaves behind a family who will carry her memory forward with love. Joyce is survived by her son, Ken Nelson, and her daughter, Janice Bailey. She also leaves her grandchildren Randy Nelson, Kenny Phillips, Bill Shiver, Melissa Shiver, Cody Martin, and Chandler Nelson. Her legacy continues in her great-grandchildren, Will Shiver, Brooklyn Shiver, Bailey Toole, Ronan Martin, Aubrey Shiver, Hunter Shiver, Abigail James, Shaylin Shiver, Winston Toole, Baylor Toole, Dakota Robert’s, Cole Robert’s, Regan Shiver, Shea Nelson, Blake Nelson, and PJ Nelson. In each generation, her care, warmth, and devotion will remain a lasting presence.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Nelson; her daughter, Mealine Pugh; and her great-grandchild, Makayla Shiver. Their memories remained part of the story of her life and of the family she held so dear.
A graveside service for Joyce Ann Nelson will be held on November 2, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Crossville City Cemetery, 617 E 1st St, Crossville, TN 38555.
Her greatest pride was her family: her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Joyce’s life was one of love expressed in everyday ways—in meals prepared, in stitches carefully worked by hand, in quiet moments with a book, and in time shared with family. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
