JOHNNY "GARY" HARGIS age 69 of Crossville, TN passed away October 3, 2023. He was born November 18, 1953, in Monterey, TN the son of Ruben and Flora Murphy Hargis. He was retired after more than 25 years from the Cumberland County School System as a maintenance supervisor. After his retirement, he continued to work as builder and most importantly as a Pastor of Vandever Baptist Church for 18 years. He was a faithful and dedicated Christian man who loved the Lord and his family with all his heart and soul. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known him.

He is survived by his wife Susie Hargis of Crossville, TN, sons- Adam Hargis and his wife Tammy and Andrew Hargis and his wife Mishaela all of Crossville, TN, brother- Earl Hargis and his wife Kathy of Crossville, TN, sisters- Kathy Tollett of Lakeland, FL, Lucille Lewis and her husband Ricky, Linda Burgess and her husband Jackie and Karolyn Reagan all of Crossville, TN and grandchildren- Nate Hargis, Gracie Hargis, TJ Hargis, Lydia Hargis, Aiden Hargis, Colt Hargis, Remi Hargis, Kenzi Hargis and Weston Hargis.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother- Preston Hargis and his wife Terri and brothers-in-law- Jackie Reagan and Randall Tollett.

Funeral services will be held Saturday October 7, 2023, at 1pm at Vandever Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5pm-8pm at Vandever Baptist Church. Burial will be in Hale's Chapel Cemetery.
