Obituary

Inez Winningham Tilley age 91 of Crossville, TN passed away October 27, 2020. She was born June 11, 1929 in Cumberland County, TN the daughter of Porter and Ady May Garrett Winningham. She is survived by Daughter: Deborah Adams, Son: Greg Tilley, Granddaughter: Jasmin Adams Queen, Great Grandaughter: Callie Queen, Grandson-in-law: Kevin Queen. Sister: Dollie Orme. She has numerous nieces and nephews living near and far.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Charlie Tilley, brothers: Arlie, Ord, Theron, Earl, Carl, Buster, Carmon Winningham and sisters: Desi Caso, Tishie Sullivan, Della Neal, Ora Dean Lee. Inez was born in Cumberland County to parents Porter and Ady May Winningham on June 11, 1929. She was the eleventh child out of 13. She graduated Cumberland County High School in 1947. She married Charlie Tilley May 24, 1952. She worked as a telephone operator, clothing store manager, and eventually retired from Avery Dennison. After retirement she kept busy working at K-Mart and some other retail stores and volunteering at Habitat for Humanity.

She enjoyed crocheting and gardening and loved a house full of her children and their friends. There was always plenty of food. She was famous for her red velvet cakes and pasta salad. You could play music as loud as you wanted. Her favorite time of year was late summer when her family hosted the Winningham Family Reunion. She loved seeing all her brothers and sisters and their families. She and her sisters spent weeks preparing for the fun and games. She always had a new joke ready to add to the laughter. She really missed the ones that went before her, but being a lifetime Christian, she knew she would see them again. She appreciated what time she had with them and the ones she still had. She will be missed by all who loved her.

Dear Lord, Heaven received a new angel this week. Mom knew that her time to join you was near. She was at peace with her life here and felt ready to accept her heavenly reward. She only asked that you give us who will miss her and love her solace in knowing that she is with her heavenly father. We will know that she is no longer in pain, confused, or worried. She will be the beautiful shining spirit you created her to be. She will be in our hearts forever, and we will follow in her faith that we will all be together again. God help us all, and carry us through this difficult time with your blessings and our love for one another. Amen
