Donald
Meadows
d. May 31, 2020
Donald "Don" Edgar Meadows passed away surrounded by many family and friends at his home on Sunday, May 31, 2020. Don was born on November 6, 1931 in Chattanooga, TN. He was a preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Mary Meadows, his son, Marty Meadows, three brothers Doyle Meadows, Dallas Meadows, and JC Chambers, and one sister, Jo Williams. He is survived by his three daughters, Donna Meadows(Mike Girdner) of Diamond, MO, Brenda Meadows of Dallas, GA, and Katherine Meadows of Dallas, GA, three sisters Shirley Selby McReynolds (Larry), Shelma Ceylor, and Barbara Wood (Buck), sister in law Mary Meadows, 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews. Don spent many of his younger years traveling to churches and attending tent revivals where he shared God's word. In his personal testimony that he wrote at just 20 years of age, he shared "No, you will never be sorry that you made a start to serve a friend like Jesus." Don was active in the Church of God of Prophecy all his life. If he was not able to be present, he was still giving. He was a charter member of the Abundant Life Church of God of Prophecy in Crossville, TN. Don also shared in his written testimony, "My only desire is to make a soldier and a worker for my God that he will be pleased to own." Don moved to Kansas in 1950 where he met his first wife and raised his family for many years and worked as a painter. He relocated to Georgia in 1969 and later retired from Lockheed Martin where he was a Technical Illustrator. He was also a talented artist and could make anything by hand. His yard was full of beautiful flowers and bushes and gorgeous landscaping he would design and build all himself. He moved back to Crossville, TN in 2001 and spent the last 19 years of his life watching wildlife at his beautiful home. He fed the birds, squirrels, raccoons, deer, and more every day up until the last few months of his life. Don loved God and he loved his family. He especially loved when his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren would come visit. All of them have many special memories of going to Papa Don's house and hearing the stories he would tell them, seeing what new electronic gadgets he had gotten , sitting with him while he called the deer and raccoons up to eat in the evening to eat, and much more. Don also loved his neighbors, who became like family, at his "Meadow on the Bluff", that he called his home. In closing, at the end of Don's life on earth, if there was any question of him fulfilling his testimony, the words in Matthew 25:21 say it best " His Lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord."
