DEMETRA DRAINAS age 77 of Crossville, TN passed away October 21, 2026. She was born September 24, 1949 in Greece the daughter of Sotiros and Panagiota Karahalios Tountas. Demetra moved from Greece to Canada in her younger years and it was there that she met and married her husband Bill who also had moved to Canada from Greece. They moved to the United States where they lived in various states before deciding to move to Crossville. Once they visited Crossville in late 1973, they knew that this was the place they would call home. She and Bill opened Gondola Pizza House which has been renowned for its lively atmosphere, extraordinary food and a dining room that is always filled. They both had a tremendous love for the people and the community, and were delighted that they could provide a place for family and friends to gather to enjoy a wonderful meal and fellowship. She will be greatly missed by all her friends and customers who have come to love her and the family throughout the years. They were members of The Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Nashville, TN.

She is survived by her sons- John Drainas and his wife Evangelia and their children- Demetra, Panagiota, Nickole and Bill of Crossville and Sam Drainas and his wife Amanda and his children- Demetra, Bill, Nicko and Jax also of Crossville, brother- Thanasis and sisters- Fani and Eleni.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband- Bill Drainas and sister Panagoula.

Funeral services will be held Saturday October 24, 2026 at 2pm at Hood Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12noon-2pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Crossville City Cemetery.
