Obituary

Pastor David Evangelista of Fairfield Glade, TN went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ in Heaven the morning of Tuesday, November 10th at his home in the Glade. He was a courageous man enduring suffering until his death. He has worked as a Sr. Pastor for 61 years, 20 of which were here in FFG. His last sermon was preached at Faith Bible Fellowship of FFG, March 15th, this year. He has had seven churches in his lifetime, but has repeatedly said, from his pulpit that Faith Bible Fellowship of FFG was his favorite church—a wonderful tribute to the congregation to whom he served. He often said, "Jesus saved the best church for the last." Pastor Dave Evangelista is survived by his wife Linda Evangelista from Chicago. Her mother had deep roots in Clarksville, Tennessee. Together they fell in love with TN. Linda's mother's side, generations ago were immigrants from England and eventually landed in Tennessee as tobacco farmers, then many of mom's family went to Chicago and Flint, Michigan, some went to work for GM there. Linda was born in 1947 during the end of WW11. Her father George Sergeena was in the Army and served on the frontlines in France and ending up in Germany at the end of WW11. Many of Linda's family members were military personnel, serving in WW11, Vietnam, Iraq and other battles. David is also survived by his 6 daughters, Carol, Spouse, Larry Clanton, Virginia (Ginny), Spouse, Terry Hoffman, Ruth, Spouse, Pastor Jeff Dunkle, Joyce, Spouse Bill Logan, Faith, Spouse, Pastor Ben Moncivaiz and Esther, Spouse Pastor Victor Flores from his marriage to Virginia German Evangelista who passed away in April, 1998. David and Virginia were married 52 years and are blessed with 6 daughters, 19 grandsons & granddaughters. They have blessed David & Virginia with 41 greatgranddaughters and great-grandsons, as well as 2 great-great grands. They were godly parents, and raised their daughters in a loving Christian home. Several of the daughters have recently retired from ministries as well. Their mother, Virginia was a gifted 'mommy' and Pastor's wife—they were a 'team'. Pastor Dave and his wife, Linda also worked as a team. Linda was his secretary and helper as she managed many tasks through the EV Free church in Sarasota [where they met and married] in May of 1998 & celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary on September 12th. After serving in Sarasota EV Free church, they journeyed on to New York a year later where David to worked as an itinerate pastor at Park EV Free church in New City, NY. While in New York, 6 mos. later, they received a call to take an Evangelical Free Church in Crossville for 6 yrs. then on to FFG to pastor FBF of FFG for 14 years. Some Crossville folks and FFG Gladers may recall Pastor Dave's daughters and son-in-law who packed the Palace Theatre, for the Legends & Patsy Cline show 2 years ago in celebration of his 90th birthday. They also did many gospel concerts at our church, FBF of FFG.

Funeral services will be held Friday November 13, 2020 at 1pm at Hood Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Friday from 11am-1pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Crossville City Cemetery.
