CHARLES RICHARD BURGESS age 85 of Crossville, TN passed away November 6, 2025. He was born March 29, 1940, in Crossville, TN, the son of Luther Simpson and Nell Eller Burgess. Charles was a graduate of Cumberland County High School and received his master's degree from the University of Tennessee. He retired as a distribution supervisor from Rockwell, before it became Colinx in Crossville. He was of the Baptist faith. He loved knowledge and spent lots of time reading and was a gifted guitarist and banjo player as well.  He loved people and was kind to everyone. He was a free spirit and lived his life in his own unique way.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his son- Chism Burgess of Crossville, TN, daughter- Tiffany Kirkland and her husband Chip of Crossville, TN, brother- Monte Burgess and his wife Phyllis and Margie Lewis and her husband Jerry all of Crossville, TN and grandchildren- Eian Burgess, Molly Burgess, Ashton Burgess, Sam Cresswell, Kiara Burgess, Kellen Akins, Kylie Kirkland and Kinley Kirkland.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother- Carl Burgess.

A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday November 11, 2025, at 1pm at Hood Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11am-1pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
