Carol Deda (Martin) Schroeder of Fairfield Glade, TN went to be with our
Lord and Savior on Sunday February 25th after a v
aliant battle with multiple myeloma.
In lieu of a wake and burial, a Celebration of Life service will be held
for Carol at 11:00 AM Saturday March 10th at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran
Church 1461 Sparta Hwy Crossville, TN 38572. Visitation will be one hour prior
to the service with a luncheon to follow.

Carol was born to the late Merle and Anna (Dempster) Martin on March 3rd,
1939. She
was raised in the Methodist church and
as a child attended a one room school house. In 1957 she graduated from Chalmers
High School.
Later that same year, Carol
and her high school sweetheart James Edward Schroeder of Reynolds, IN were
joined in marriage at St. James Lutheran Church. By 1960 they welcomed Jeff
their first of 3 children, Jill and Gary would follow in 1963 and 1966
respectively. The Schroeders enjoyed many of life's simple pleasures together on
their family farm in Smithson, IN.
Carol was instrumental in raising their children with good Christian morals
and values. An avid nature lover she enjoyed gardening, bird watching, flowers
and being outdoors. Besides working on the farm and being a consummate mother
and homemaker she also worked in as church secretary at St. James where the
family attended. Carol had an unwavering faith in God and based her life and
decisions around it.
In 2000 Jim and Carol retired and relocated to Fairfield Glade, TN where
she spent much of her free time painting watercolors, enjoying nature and
playing the dulcimer. They also enjoyed travelling and hosting family get
togethers. Carol was a member of the Art Guild at Fairfield Glade and played in
The Dulcimores music group. In 2017 Carol and Jim celebrated their 60th wedding
anniversary and joined Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.
Carol is survived by her husband James Schroeder Fairfield Glade, TN, their
children and spouses; Jeff (Beth) Schroeder Huntertown, IN, Jill (Jeff)
Brookshire Jefferson, GA, Gary Schroeder and fiancé Juliette Garces-Dueñas Mt.
Prospect, IL; 4 loving grand children Chelsea Brookshire, Trevor Brookshire,
Jasper Schroeder, Wyatt Schroeder, 1 brother Dempster (Ruth) Martin Reynolds,
IN; 2 sisters Marian (George) Townsend Upland, IN and Nancy Martin West
Lafayette, IN.
Carol was preceded in death by 3 brothers Jack Martin Reynolds, IN Eugene
Hugh (JoAnn) Martin Fort Wayne, IN, and Merle (Nila) Martin Reynolds,
IN.
The family is extremely grateful for everyone who cared, comforted and
prayed for Carol in recent years.
