Obituary

BOBBY DEAN SUTTLES age 91 of Fairfield Glade, TN passed away April 7, 2021. He was born February 20, 1930 in Emmett, KS the son of Raymond W. and Ruth Suttles. After graduating from Soldier High School in Soldier, KS in 1949 he farmed near his parents and was employed at Goodyear Tire and Rubber in Topeka, KS. He was a United States Army veteran having served our country during the Korean conflict. He began a distinguished 28-year Air Force civilian service career in 1960 after receiving a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Kansas State University. He spent the large portion of his career as the chief of the Configuration Management Division for the B-1 and B1B program offices. He received the Dayton, Ohio Metropolitan Area Federal Supervisor of the Year award in 1982 and the Outstanding Civilian Service Award at Wright-Patterson Air Force base in 1988. He retired from the US government as an Aeronautical Engineer in 1988. He and his wife retired to Fairfield Glade, TN in 1995. He was an active member of Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church. He especially enjoyed playing golf and was a lifelong fisherman. He was a member of the Fairfield Glade Bass Club and various golf groups including the Big 10, Robin's, and the Roaring 20's. He enjoyed volunteering at Crossville Medical Center. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Kay Wilson Suttles of Fairfield Glade, TN and 3 children: Robert Dean Suttles and his wife Gwendolyn of Albuquerque, NM, Timothy Wilson Suttles and his wife Cindy of Harrisburg, OR, daughter- Ruth Doris Suttles of Dayton, OH, daughter-in-law Laura Suttles of Albuquerque, NM and grandchildren Shaylyn Rae Suttles, Jacob Tucker Suttles and Riley Wilson Suttles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son William "Bill" Suttles and brothers Raymond W. Suttles Jr. and Frankie M. Suttles. Memorial services will be held Monday April 26th at 10AM at Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church. The family has respectfully asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund or the John Slinkard Vocational Endowment Fund for Single Parents or a charity of your choice.
