April Dawn Ford, beloved wife, cherished mother, treasured daughter, and adored grandmother, left this world on June 13, 2026, at the age of 50. Born on April 4, 1976, April’s life was a beautiful testament to compassion, laughter, and unwavering devotion to family.

April is survived by her father, Alva Eugene Ford, who always took great pride in his daughter’s kindhearted spirit and her capacity to brighten the days of those around her. Her devoted husband, Shane Slaven, shared in life’s joys and challenges with April, walking beside her faithfully through each chapter.

As a mother, April nurtured her son, Brian Allen Dayton, and her daughter, Sandra Gail Howard, with boundless love and deep affection. Through their lives, her steadfast support and encouragement became an enduring foundation—a legacy of love that carries forward.

April’s legacy grows richer and deeper through her grandchildren: Abigail Haney, Dalton Howard, Katelynn Howard, Trae Howard, Jordan Howard, Colbie Howard, Aubrey Howard, Braydon Eugene Thomas Nelson, and Gunner Eugene Howard. Each grandchild felt the warmth of her caring embrace—a gentle hand to guide them, a smile to lift their spirits, and an ever-present reminder of unconditional love.

In every role—daughter, wife, mother, grandmother—April embraced life’s milestones and challenges with courage and grace. She gathered family around her, weaving together treasured memories. Her laughter echoed in gatherings, her wisdom gently guided loved ones, and her kindness left a mark that will never fade. Aprils favorite hobby was rock collecting. She started collecting rocks from a young age and loved decorating them. April’s dream job was to be an interior designer. 

The family invites friends and all whose lives were touched by April to join in a Celebration of Life on June 26, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Hood Funeral Home & Crematory, LLC, 2371 Hwy 127 S, Crossville, TN 38572. Together, stories will be shared, memories will be treasured, and the remarkable life that April led will be honored.

Though April’s absence leaves a profound ache, the memories and love she instilled endure, growing ever stronger in the hearts of those who remain.
